Machismo Is Worldwide.

 

Do you know what machismo is? According to Oxford English dictionary, machismo means aggressive male behaviour that emphasizes the importance of being strong rather than being intelligent and sensitive. Most men agree that machismo is not worldwide in modern society, but women do not think like that. In my opinion, machismo is still worldwide and there are many examples from the past to the present time.  

First of all, there are many cultural evidences about machismo. Muslim society is one of the definite proofs of machismo. Although Muslim and other people can’t agree with my opinion, Muslim keeps very serious machismo culture. For example, there is a door for only man in a house and woman can’t use it, only women have to wear chador for cover their body, and so on.

Second, polygamy institution is another machismo example. Polygamy is the custom of having more than one wife at the same time. However, Women on the other hand, are only allowed the one husband, although they are allowed to remarry after a divorce. Many countries that keep polygamy system are also very stronger machismo society such as Hindu and Islam

Finally, the evidence of machismo is shown by the modern development society. Many women agree that machismo society is changing in the present time, but there are still much discrimination between man and woman. For instance, woman can’t be the president of a nation or company than man; also woman’s salary is less than man even though woman has same ability with man.

Indeed, many people think the machismo is changing as time to go, but there are still so many proofs of machismo from the past to the present time such as Muslim norms, polygamy, and the discriminations of woman in the modern society. If these kinds of machismo’s habits are not change, nobody can agree with this statement, “Machismo is not worldwide anymore.”
